Birthmark Removal

At Skin Experts Polyclinic, we assess both vascular and pigmented birthmarks individually before recommending treatment. Vascular birthmarks, such as port-wine stains and certain haemangiomas, are associated with blood vessels, while pigmented birthmarks, such as café-au-lait macules and melanocytic nevi, involve changes in pigmentation or pigment-producing cells.

Depending on the diagnosis and clinical assessment, selected laser technologies may be used to address the appearance of certain birthmarks. Treatment is planned according to the type of birthmark, skin type, age, location, and other individual factors, with appropriate consideration given to surrounding skin.

In some cases, surgical removal may be more appropriate, particularly when a lesion requires tissue examination or when laser treatment is not considered suitable. Surgical treatment may be planned in stages where clinically appropriate, depending on the size, location, and characteristics of the lesion.

Dr. Dany Touma and his team provide care for infants, children, and adults, with treatment recommendations adapted to the patient’s age, diagnosis, and individual needs. Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended for selected birthmarks, and the degree of improvement varies between patients.
